Update 11/17

Dear Families,

Here we are in the last full week of school before we break for Thanksgiving! It is hard to believe! We are are creating turkeys and working on a very interesting Thanksgiving Pocket Booklet. The students will be learning about the Pilgrims and the how and why they came to America! Ask your child what they learned today!

We are starting Unit 4 in Math. In this Unit we will look carefully at word problems using both addition and subtraction. We will be adding 2 digit numbers using knowledge about tens to solve. We will continue practicing facts and also reading a thermometer. The family letter going home today will give you detailed information on this unit.

In Language Arts we are looking at plural nouns - both adding s, and -es as well as unusual plurals - child to children for example. Use the Language Handbook for practice in this area. We are reading Mr. Putter and Tabby Fly a Plane this week with a look at predicting outcomes and abbreviations. We will have our tests in all Language Arts areas on Friday - Spelling, Reading and Language.

We will finish Science Chapter 3 this week as well. We will be reviewing all week with the Science test scheduled for next Tuesday, Nov. 25th. Look for the review sheet to come home on Thursday.

Next week we will begin a new story, but will not have the tests until Friday,Dec.5th.
