Dear Families,
Greetings from Second Grade! A special thanks goes to all parents who participated in "Read Across America Week" by coming in and reading to the children. They LOVE it! Looking back, I also extend a warm thank you to all of our Grand-friends for coming in as well. These times are to be treasured!
This week we have been writing, writing, writing! Your child has created a personal map from which to generate personal stories. Ask your child about what is on their map! The students have been working on good beginnings, staying on topic, showing the event - not just telling about it, and creating an ending that connects to the beginning. Encourage your child to read and write everyday....it's all connected!
In Math we are working in Unit 7 which hits many skills including: adding 3 numbers in which 2 of the numbers are double digits, doubles and halves, measuring and data collection, as well as manipulating the data into graphs and analyzing it for the median number. We will review for the unit test next week with the test being towards the end of the week. Keep practicing those facts! Thanks!
We have started a new Science unit on Living and Non-living things. We will investigate and classify things in the world around us, as well as, plant seeds and care for the plants as they grow.
We will begin a new Social Studies unit after Easter on Native Americans. We will also create a model of Elmer! Hopefully this will be completed by the PTA Covered Dish Dinner on April 29.
The Student of the Week is Hope Knarvik. She loves CANDY and cheerleading! There's a girl after my own heart! Come in and check out her poster!
ENJOY this weather!
