Happy Valentine's Day!
Our look ahead this week proves to be a fun and exciting one! On Thursday we hve our annual "Jumprope - Hoops for Heart" activity as well as our Valentine's Day party in the afternoon AND Friday is a the first day of President's Weekend!
In honor of President's Day I have added a new link to this page - Whitehouse Kids. It had alot of great activities plus up to date happenings in Washington, D.C. Another link added is called Sheppard Learning. This site has tons of learning activities addressing all subjects - the Science is especially cool! Please check them out. THANKS!
We are starting our new theme this week - with our first story being "The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash". The phonics focus is the /ou/ sound spelled ou, ow. We will start writing stories in this theme. This week we will focus on good beginnings. In Grammar the students will be introduced to pronouns. We will have tests for the week on Thursday - Spelling, Selection and Language.
In Math, we are finishing up Unit 6 - addition and subtraction. We will spend time this week practicing trading in subtraction (borrowing) and applying this new skill to word problems. Look for the unit test study guide NEXT week. I cannot urge enough the importance of your child learning their facts. They must memorize them and know them WELL. The goal should be all facts +, - to 20 with instant recall, by May. Spending just 10 minutes EACH day practicing the facts will get this task done. THANK you!!!
Our student of the week is Skylar Bruno - she loves spending time with her family and doing arts and crafts. Stop in and check out Skylar's favorites!
Have a great week!
